Clemson Tigers Beat the Georgia Bulldogs for an 8-1 Victory

ATHENS — On Tuesday evening, April. 11, 2023, Clemson’s baseball team beat Georgia 8-1 at Foley Field. The Tigers (20-14) are on a three-game win streak and UGA (18-15) lost momentum after winning the series against the No. 3-ranked Kentucky Wildcats.

Georgia Left-handed pitcher Luke Wagner had his first start of the season and worked four innings, allowing three runs on four hits with one strikeout in the loss.

“Luke gave us the chance to win,” Georgia head coach Scott Stricklin said. “So I think that's the number one positive that Luke Wagner was really good and he's gonna get himself back out there.”

  • STARS OF THE GAME

Designated hitter Billy Amick led Clemson with four RBIs on three hits. Georgia outfielder Conner Tate batted in the only run, with a double that scored outfielder Ben Anderson.

  • TURNING POINT

Wagner kept it scoreless for the first three innings in his first start of the 2023 season. Amick hit a three-run home run at the top of the fourth to open the game up. It was his third home run of the season.

  • NOTABLE NUMBERS

Seven Tiger pitchers combined to limit the Bulldogs to only five hits in the game and struck out 13 Georgia players. Redshirt freshman Charlie Condon extended his on-base streak to 32 games after drawing a walk in the first inning.

  • LOOK AHEAD

Clemson heads back home to face Notre Dame at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Sunday, April 16 for a three-game series. The Bulldogs will start the road trip with a three-game series against the Florida Gators in Gainesville, Florida on Friday, April 14.
